WELCOME to EVANSVILLE DISTRICT WALK to EMMAUS (EDWE)

The Evansville District Walk to Emmaus was launched in 1993 as part of the international ecumenical Emmaus movement whose mission is to renew Christian disciples and strengthen local churches. We have continuously sponsored Walk to Emmaus weekends ever since. In the spring of 2023, EDWE will be blessed to sponsor its 96th and 97th weekends.

Since our first Walk in 1993, EDWE has been able to help hundreds of men and women learn how to acquire a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ, and become more effective and active members of the Body of Christ. The purpose of EDWE is to inspire, challenge, and equip church members for Christian action in their homes, churches and places of employment. Although EDWE functions under the auspices of the International Emmaus Program of Upper Room Ministries, it is an ecumenical movement for individuals of all denominations.

EDWE is a non-profit corporation that has been granted tax-exempt status by the IRS and the Indiana Department of Revenue. It is governed by a 15 member volunteer Board of Directors which includes 3 clergy members. The Board officers include a Community Lay Director and a Community Spiritual Director who has a seminary degree.

Everyone who has attended an Emmaus weekend, whether sponsored by EDWE or any other 4th Day Community, is welcome to attend our monthly Gatherings during which we enjoy fellowship, praise and worship, a witness speaker and the communion of elements. Please check out our upcoming weekends, our Gathering locations and dates and other key events coming up on our Calendar.

The mailing address for EDWE is P.O. Box 805, Evansville, IN 47705. If you wish to contact the Community Lay Director, Community Spiritual Director or any board member, download the latest Newsletter to find the email address of the person filling that position.
